Anyone Ever Move a Hoouse? (Questions)

    True...I guess I was assuming this was flat ground...maybe not...that makes it a lot harder

    I would have the path from existing to new graded and then filled with sand. I think you wet the sand before you start moving. I saw a documentary where they think that is the method that was used to move the huge stone blocks for building the pyramids.

    Yes it is level ground, plus I have a bulldozer so I can make any ground level. :)

    Yeah that has been done. Not sure how "close" it was cut...we used an excavator! :) We ripped off the woodshed too while we were at it.

    Regarding prices, it looks like you've decided to go ahead and attempt the move yourself....good luck.

    8 years ago, I priced out having a basement put under the cottage. That year, prices ranged from 15K to just over 30K; depending on how involved....(moving the cottage out of the way vs. just cribbing it up and working underneath it.)

    3 years ago, I had it priced out again. The lowest was 25K.
