I see those Sears models all over ebay. They are the same thing, just branded for Sears? Once I get my 220F and a few more, I'll be good to go. It would take a small mortgage just to fuel them all. I paid almost $15 for coleman fuel at dicks. I need to get the price down. I know I overpaid there. Ever burn Naptha? That's about half the cost.
no i haven't run naptha, i'll run just regular unleaded gas on occasion, i think some guys are mixing coleman fuel with kerosene as well..........
well, just for the heck of it, i gave the pre-way i picked up (mainly just for the globe that was in it) a quick go-over, made a cheapy bail for it, slapped on some cheap mantels, aired the tank, it fired right up with whatever fuel was still in it!!.........not sure if i'll keep this one, but i do like that it has a large fuel tank so it could burn much longer than any other lanterns i have............
Got the 200f today. took the pump apart and soaked the gasket in vegetable oil. swelled up again and the pump pressurizes. don't know when this was last oiled. Works great. Even had some old mantles. I used one package and am saving the others because I think the old packaging is neat.
here's my ten dollar 1949 242c i picked up at the same place i found my '48 228d i restored, when i got it, it was pretty ugly and missing it's collar, picked up a collar off the bay for 7.00, but what was nice was, it still had it's original globe (worth the 10. bucks alone), put the lemon juice to it, and it cleaned up pretty nice and it works well, not bad for under 20. bucks..........
I have given up on the 200a. They all sell for about double what a 220f sells for. I like the red color, but I don't feel like paying a premium for the same light or less since it's only a 1 mantle set-up.
200a's tend to show up at flea markets and antique shops pretty reasonable, just keep your eye open for one, I've walked right past lanterns before and didn't see them until my next trip through.........also, these burn brighter than you think.......
yep....i'll keep my eyes open. not in a real hurry i guess. i have 3 lanterns currently. that should be plenty good for any outdoor adventures.
i almost forgot, you may also want to check any bait and tackle shops nearby you if there is any, the first one i stopped at (and only one one i've stopped at so far), had five or six colemans hanging from the ceiling for sale at 35 bucks a piece, no 200's, but i did see a nice model "E" that i may take a closer look at, we have several small lakes nearby with bait shops around them, you never know what may be in them, always worth checking...........
i used all 3 this weekend at my daughter's 4th birthday party. they kept the backyard nicely illuminated. my cheap propane model throws the best light, but the 220 performed nicely. my new duel fuel was great as long as the tank is mostly full. the duel fuel is much more compact than the 220. i like them all. i cannot lie
i picked up a vintage sears propane double mantel a couple weeks ago, it's butt ugly, but kinda retro at the same time, still had it's original box with manual and some extra silklite mantels in the box, i got it cheap, it still had mantels trying to hang on, it lit anyway, it really is bright more so than most of my colemans..........here's a pic of one like the one i bought..........
that color is very A Clockwork Orange 70's. The propane ones are super bright. Mine is rated at 861 lumens, which is more than the duel fuel. it is noticably more intense, and it's nice that you get a steady brightness out of it with little effort.
could you somehow hook this to your propane tank for the gas grill? it has to be cheaper to buy that way than the little coleman cylinders.
I once asked HoneyFuzz about my lanterns. No clue what works and doesn't. If you guys were closer I'd make you a deal but I don't think it makes sense to ship this stuff? This is what I have. I recall Mr. Fuzz saying keep the 200a. All they do is take up shelf space. I'd likely keep one only but haven't got the time to do much of anything and more pressing stuff to fix first. They still make them.. Had one years ago and never used it. Think I gave it away.. http://www.walmart.com/ip/Coleman-8...fault&beacon_version=1.0.1&findingMethod=p13n Ray
