Some popcorn in the cast iron pan on the little 502 this evening with the family. The lantern is running nice and bright. I need to forge some hanging hooks around the yard to hang the lantern. I may need a few more now.
Yep, lanterns tend to multiply!, don't ask me how I know this!.............Oh, I hope you had a screen over your popcorn pan!.......
One that most guys would of used for "parts" before I did a "Full Fred" on it, man it was rough. Great for hanging off the boat for some late nite catfishin' and a solid, dependable lantern.
We were visiting friends today and I mentioned using the camp stove and lantern. Out comes this nice 530 camp stove. It is the civilian model of the military 520. I think it was missing the diffuser plate, but had the handle/wrench and fuel funnel. Sorry the pics were not better. I believe these burned multi fuels.
Stopped by a rummage sale and snagged myself a stove and stand for $10. It is a well used unit that hadn't been fired in several years but popped off right away. I may try to sand it down n repaint to clean it up a bit. Any suggestions for best heat resistant paint and primers. I'm flirting with turning it into a bastage and do a custom color or design on it.
Heck Arron, I'd just give it a good wipe down and use it, stoves tend to get greasy from cooking bacon, sausage and whatnot, it's nice to have a user and not worry about it, you did well at that price, the 413's are bigger than the 425 series and hold a griddle nicely, heck, I paid ten bucks just for the first Coleman stand I've come across about a month ago.....
Sounds like a good plan. I may just do that. Now I need to dig my cast iron griddle out to see how it fits.
Not Coleman or even a pressurized unit but a guy at work knew I was into lanterns and gave me this. Found it in his basement and thinks his dad may have been given it when he bar tended and he ended up with it somehow. I don't think it has been out of the box til today.
Here I go wicking out on you guys. My wife said I am addicted to light makers. Then she promptly placed it on the antique secretary on the shelf for lamps to use the mirror behind it to reflect light back into the room. Found this old finger lamp at the annual junkfest held in town every year. Not even dogging on the event, it is called "Junkfest". Wish I had more cash cuz I saw a couple aladdin lamps and an akron table lamp.
Scored a very nice all original Akron 102 this morning, with very little work, had it up and run'n in no time!.....
The seller had three of them plus a 329 Coleman shade that I grabbed as well, when I went back for the other two green ones, a guy had just grabbed them as I got there, oh well....
My first slant generator lamp, a 118, pulled it out of the shipping box thinking I'd need to do a complete go-over, after a pump re-fresh, I had hope that it might light with little work, and it did!!, I will go through this lamp in the future, but for now, I'm happy that I know it will be a runner with little work....
