I got some cedar 2 years ago in a Craigslist score along with white birch and apple. I'm just starting to use it.
Speaking of white birch, we were at Ace yesterday and i saw these cute decorations. Three birch logs 3"x16" stacked and wrapped with 2 twine ties. Only 26$... Looked like this
Cedar burns hot. It is very aromatic. If we kids got poison oak daddy Would build a fire outside with green cedar brows and have us put the affected area in the smoke. The poison oak would dry up and be gone in no time. Cedar makes great fence posts but don’t last as long as locust. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Love it when I can get it. Last small load I got I split up and learned that mice hate it so I put it around in one of my sheds that was full of them. So for, no signs of them in over a year. Some time, when I have the time I need to go to my parents and they have a couple the he wants down out at the ranch that he has a pole building on. Oh, I love burning it as well but starting to think there are better uses for it.
I’ve burnt quite a bit. Had 900 board feet sticked and stacked in my basement. Put it down there in 93. Burnt it up in 2016? Decided I was never going to use it and it was taking up too much space. Needed a new oil furnace and to get it in it had to go. All 1” boards. I wasnt all that impressed with the heat it gave off and certainly less impressed with the duration.
Yep. I did use some of the biggest and best for an 8’ vanity in my master bath. And those steps I replaced in the back were originally made out of cedar. It’s time had come.
