The town is doing some drain and sidewalk work. They have a bunch of "old, weak" trees that are in the way and had to be moved. They will cut them into 4' - 6' lengths but the rest is up to you... What is there when they finish the prep work goes to the dump. Had an hour today so I bucked a trunk and quartered it on the spot to get it in the truck. About 36" at the bottom and 28" at the top. Probably go back tomorrow for a full load... KaptJaq
Haven't had any ash yet so I'm not familiar with it. These trees were planted by the town along the road about 50 yeas ago so they are possibly not a local species. Most of the woods around here are oak & maple. Some birch, fruit woods, and firs/pines mixed in. There used to be a lot of black walnut but a virus killed it off in the 70s & 80s. When urban sprawl took over the farmland a lot of "exotic" trees were planted. When I get rounds from the tree services I never know what to expect except that it is free. KaptJaq
