Now that I have real internet service where I live I am going to tell the phone company to have a nice day.
Is there any one here using VOIP for their phone service?
    Who's system are you using?
The 2 I know of are Vonage and Majic Jack are there any other options that I should investigate?
If you are already using one of these services what are the pro's and con's?

Right where I want to be.
Had Vonage many years ago, but it wasn't the greatest.
One BIL has a Magic Jack, but I don't know how well it works for him.
    What's your internet speed?
Magic Jack is cheap enough to try w/o losing too much.

I have the basic talk sold at Walmart, or on line. It is $10 a month. It's a no thrills VoIP offered by Vonage. Has caller I D, voice mail, and unlimited calling in the US and Canada, but no international calling. I have 2 lines. They work really well. No echo or delays. If you also have a cell pone, you want to keep from paying too much for both to do much of the same thing. Version has a hone phone that is basically an analog cell phone. It has a two hour back up battery. I tried one, I could take it in the car with me and travel around with it if I wanted to. You cannot fax with it. That was about $24 with tax. Good thing about that one was it worked during a power failure. Not much of a concern if you have a cell phone. If you get a regular Vonage line, you can set it up to ring your home pone number on your cell phone should you loose power. Many options.

I went ahead and ordered the Magic Jack. I'll post up my experience once it arrives and I get it all set up

I installed the magic jack and I can say it does everything is says it will do. One minor problem that is not t fault of magic jack but more of a problem with the phone carrier in North Dakota. They charge a small fee to access their network. Long distance to other states is good so far. Local and long distance calls are clear and I don't have any noise on the line. So far it is a great product.
