Gotta use the proper-rod ... any will hold it but you will get a “white dust” after the saw sits for awhile ... let me see if I can find the #

I’m also fond of the pop-rivet technique ... in combo with a 288 husqvarna deflector ... u can start with a 1/2 hole in muffler and enlarge to suit your application ... here’s a 261c with a husky deflector pop-riveted (it’s not a 288 ; next size smaller ) beauty is u can drill the rivets , enlarge hole and rinse and repeat until you find the right size/geometry

The 261c REALLY wakes up with this muffler mod ; squish tightened and modified and .020 off the key to slightly advance timing ... I have the equipment to deck the cylinder and mod the muffler for a reasonable fee ... I’ve run this against a few builders ported 261c’s and with a Razer chain I’m right there with em ... with above mods ...if I widened the exhaust and did some “flow enhancements” I believe the saw would be a force to be reckoned with !

Looks good on a shelf. Those aluminum rivets won't last long in the real world

Really ? Had em in there for YEARS ... matter of fact the muffler will probably rust away around the rivers as aluminum don’t rust ! Hahaha

with regular rivets if you drill them out you will be fishing pieces out of the muffler

It's a stainless muffler, so I doubt it'll rust before the rivets fail. Probably ok for an occasional use aaw.

Scott tested it, and with the 261, he found that the mtron will return the timing to factory specs
