Packratting/hoarding paid off today! Went looking for my original this morning and low & behold, there it was right where I remembered it to be! All the original parts plus the guard with a receipt for the metal blade kit...dated 2004. 13 years I've held onto that stuff and really had no intentions of putting it back on since this trimmer was to always be a brush cutter after I bought a Husky trimmer for string duty.

I had to laugh at myself, but it's nice not having to spend any money for a new guard!

Normally, for me anyways....The finding part happens shortly after the buying part.

That's awesome ! Gets me how many people repetitively buy stuff over and over because they can't muster up the small amount of discipline it takes to offer basic care.

I tried the very carbide blade in the OP and it cut great but seemed to dull pretty quick. I also destroyed the first one when I hit a hidden rock. Without a doubt, the MAXI blade is the best blade I have tried, and it was recommended by some people that clear brush for a living.

It is called Husqvarna MAXI 200-26t blade. I think the guy who told me about it runs it on the biggest Stihl brush cutter. It is sharpenable. I run it on a Husqvarna 345FR, a powerful straight shaft brush cutter. There is another model Husky above the 345 but I didn't feel I needed to spend so much more money. This one was pricey enough, about $800. But it works well. I bought it for clearing saplings.

Brush Destructor should be here in about 10 days. Planning to mount it up and do a trial run soon thereafter (30 day money back guarantee). Will report back on my experience. I just watched a video where it was tested on two 6-7" diameter logs sticking out of the ground. They were both completely chopped through in about 2 minutes. I don't intend to use it to that extreme, but nice to see that it is very robust. The owner of the company basically states that you will tear up your trimmer before ever hurting the cutter.

Thinking I need to upgrade my nylon strap to a real harness. Any opinions on the load bearing style harnesses? Also, anti-vibe gloves? Anyone have any experience?

All I know about harnesses is (I'm kinda a taller girthier .......) and when I bought a new Echo brush cutter last year my dealer found it humorous that the echo harness held the cutter under my armpit and wouldn't get it closer than a foot or so to the ground. Funny haha.
So my Echo hangs from a Stihl harness, seems nice. I can get pics of them side by side, kinda looks like when your wife's bra is on a clothesline next to your teenage daughters.
The tear up your trimmer comment sounds like a challenge, I'm wundrun if he sells trimmer's on the side.

The owner claims that the Hondas are his favorites. I prefer 2-stroke.
While searching for harnesses, I came across some vibration dampening stuff from Limbsaver. I think I may try a couple of the products. My hands are usually shot after about 2.5-3 hours with regular trimmer. It takes me at least two of those sessions to hit everything (3+ in the summer heat).

I look forward to the review. My blades showed up today. If I get the chance I'll try to dull them this weekend. Letch'a know if it happens.
