I've had one knee scoped once and the other twice, so far. Both for cartilage and smoothing. It worked out great. I don't jog anymore, but play golf, and walk. They start hurting after a certain amount of activity. You'll love it.

I had the left one done in 2006, this knee pain hit quick and hard. There is an arthritis issue that will never go away though.:(

I'm glad for you that you were able to get something done. Esp. while on active duty. If you have problems in the future, and you will, this will hold up for assistance.
I wish I could get my knees fixed, but I have to loose a lot of weight first. Hope you keep good records of what and when.

I have a digital and paper copies of my medical record. Before I retire, I will be making two complete set of copies so I can hand the VA one. :p And if they say they lost it, I'll have a disc back up!

Very glad to hear this got done and you're on the mend now, Dave.
It's like a huge weight (not literally) gets lifted off your shoulders.
Speedy recovery, but don't push too hard for it. Let it happen. Stay away from the drugs as much as you can. I stopped taking mine about 1.5 days after surgery and it took over 3 days for me to get back to my abnormal self.
Now, you'll have a little time to play with one of the Fishers.

You bet! I'll only take them unless I "REALLY" need them, I'm not one for meds anyway. I have to take my maintenance meds daily, other than that no! I did have a difficult time sleeping with the throbbing last night so I took one of the pain pills, after that it was ...

There are folks with real success stories(my grandmother comes to mind both knees replaced 100% back to normal within couple months) and then a coworker who had 1 knee done back in November, she's still limping around.
GF has a bad knee from a car accident, ligament and cartilage damage, the docs tell her it's arthritic. Fluid drained multiple times, shots etc haven't helped her for more than a couple weeks.

Biggest thing with joints is keeping excessive weight off, which I think for folks in pain from the nagging joint is even harder. Working out in a pool is what worked for me during my back/disc issues.
I'm not going back to having that overhang on my belt line.
