You should give it a try! Usually always room for volunteers of all ages/skill levels.

When I looked at your photo of the drums, I wondered if they were in a sound "booth" (could see clear plastic). Your group sounds really good Brad and the mix helps a lot. Good song too. Are you doing any multi track recording of original songs as well?

Thanks, man! No recording yet, but that's on the radar. We do run a Mac with Ableton Live and play tracks with a click.

How long you been playing? You sound good. Looks and sounds like the kit's mic'd up well.

You're too kind...I've been playing since I was 13, so about 25 yrs. the kit is mic'd w/about 8 mics, all running to the board on individual channels. The sound guys we have are phenomenal. I mostly play by ear, but can read basic charts. Church is a great place to give a little back of what God has blessed us with, so the pleasure is mine. No money in it, but the retirement benefits are pretty good! Lol....

I got started around that age too. Still play a bit now. In the early 80s, my honey and I did stage lighting as a side thing. Ever listen to Phil Keaggy? We did one of his shows that was a real treat. Whew. It was our first introduction to christian rock. Not a bad way to first see what it was about. That dude could/can play... the band was amazing. Just found that he's still doing shows.

I've been playing with two other guys the last couple months. Because of scheduling conflicts, we can't get together as often as we would like. Yesterday all three of us got together in the back yard for a few hours and recorded a few songs. Here is a cover of the Grateful Dead's Eyes of the World. I'm doing the rhythm. This is only the 4th time we have all played together so there's a bit of chatter to help us keep things straight.

Hit download. If you get a box asking you to sign in or sign up, just click outside of it. It will go away and you can hit download again and then chose "Run" instead of download.

I rarely play my acoustic anymore, so I restrung it last week and played on it for a while. It was fun, but tough on the hands and fingers. Even though I play the electric every day, the acoustic was rough. Guess I need to get some lighter strings for it.

I have enough trouble keeping up with 6 strings. Don't know what the heck I'd do with a seventh.

You get used to it quick. 6 strings feel weird now. heh honestly, i started playing them because I didn't want a baritone, but wanted 26.5" scale. 25.5" strats and 24" lp's are just too skinny in the frets for my sausage fingers up top. I wanted more spacing in the upper register. The longer scale lets you use lighter gague strings to achive the same pitch. So, I run standard 10-46, and a 63 on the low b, which I usually drop to A for massive bottom end.

my neighbors probably hate me... I have a 6505+ half stack

I never played electric until last summer. I started taking scale lessons so I bought a Gibson SG to have access to the upper end. I think I posted a couple pics of it earlier in this thread. I played around with it for a couple weeks and put it away. It was almost like having to learn to play all over again. I decided to get an acoustic with a cutaway this summer sometime.

I always used medium to heavy strings on my Dreads but last week when I replaced a set, I went with lights (11's). You do lose a bit of that Dreadnaught "punch" with the light strings.
