Aw, the violin. We all have regrets, one of my many is that I never picked up a violin when I was younger.
So true. At 56, I just bought a mandolin this past summer. I've always loved the sound and decided it was time to give it a go.
Set up an account and tested my connection and gear tonight. Even using the WiFi connection it passed the latency test so I'm in. Made a quick 2 minute test recording that came back as acceptable as well. There are a couple mistakes but here it is. http://www.jamkazam.com/recordings/ea31bf8f-3a74-4b50-bb8c-d400fad56c4c
The performance at the nursing home went well yesterday! Everyone seemed to enjoy it. I made a couple of people fall asleep and other people cry. Normally that would be a bad sign, but everyone was really appreciative. Like any performance, I had a few bobbles because of nerves, but it didn't take long to settle in. The song that I really wanted to sound good went well. I would normally at this point show a video, but the camera crapped out on me and I didn't get any footage.
Yep, it was totally expected. Its just a matter of how one deals with it. Ive played many recitals and concerts, so I have a system, but there is still a few blips that squeak through. It happens.
I played guitar for almost 50 years… not very well but good enough for the drunks in the audience. Now I don't have any feeling in my index and middle fingers so I can't play anymore. I bought a vintage Jap drum kit last year that I use to irritate my wife….
I play guitar mostly songs that are good for campfires. I got a Martin DX1AE. You can get them new for around $400. Sound is great!! Try one out if you get a chance.
went back to my mothers over the weekend played music with my sister, nephew, his son , a cousin and some friends played for about 4 hours it was a good time don't do it very often anymore
I need an outside opinion. What brand of acoustic guitar is a good starter? I'm looking for cheap but good.
Martin DX1AE I was in a music store and played this guitar and it sounded just like one of the $1500 martin acoustics. So I bought one. http://www.zzounds.com/item--MRTDX1AE or http://www.zzounds.com/item--MRTDX1RAE
That was my first new guitar. $160.00, which in 1982 was an entire weeks take home pay for me. Made a couple changes to it a year later. I had someone install a bone bridge and nut which completely changed the sound; for the better. It has a much nicer ring and better sustain. That cost me $40.00 and was worth every penny. It's still my go-to acoustic guitar 32 years later. Playing it this past summer on the patio.
