Those look tasty. Cook em quick. When I hunted on the other side of the State, we would pick a bunch by the side of the road and sauté them with onions and make a big scramble with eggs.:flipeggs:

I did, softened them up in a skillet and added them to condensed mushroom soup, with some chicken stock and cream. My go-to quick mushroom vehicle. Lots of umami with those.

I've seen those ads too. I wonder if they work?

My dad always poured out his rinse water in a specific place, don't know if it created mushrooms as he never shared where he poured the water! The salt water brine they sat in went down the drain. Older gentleman my daughter and her husband hunt with always leaves one mushroom when more than one is found. Many wives tales. Good luck all this coming season.

I usually find some in/near my lawn every year. Oddly, the most reliable places seem to be under EWP and one particular fir tree on the south facing side of trees on the north end of my property. Occasionally there are some in my woods but rarely. One of my favorite things about spring!

Out poking around this morning. No morels yet. Soil temp is at 50 degrees. Maple saplings haven't budded out yet. The soil is damp under the leaves, but a good rain might do it.

I did find these, so activity is starting.

Slocum, nice that you can confirm that they grew after you found them. Ones we have left have never grown more.

Found these two when hunting the other day at one of our "spots....

I always get what I think are chicken of the woods out back where some dead oaks use to be. But I don't know much about them and when the right time to pick them is. Some of them get huge....!

I've been looking around my property for about a week. No luck yet and snow is due tomorrow.

Nice, I have had the same experience with them not growing. Last week was cold and not much sun. If it would had been warm they would have dried up for sure.

My daughter found 35 nice sized gray morels today. Going to fry them up along with some venison backstrap for dinner tonight.
