So glad you posted this, I was having a fit the other night trying to program my DM-1701. Freaking Windows and it's dammed need for separate drivers for everything in creation. I have an old version installed to run as software inside my wife's Mac but it's as inept as anything I've ever seen. I'd rather throw the radios away then try to program them that way. Any idea if these links also work with the DM-1701? I can't find anything about it on Baofangs site. I'm totally out of my element with these radios and instructions with any level of clarity are more rare then the Holy Grail.
UPDATE: Chirp was really easy to use on a computer that works lol. I followed along Ham Radio Crash Course video on youtube. My radio is programmed. Now I just have to learn how to use it and the different functions.
I needed help from a local ham to setup a few channels. It was quite confusing. Maybe look for your local ham club
Not sure if you've seen this or not RabbleRouser How to Program Baofeng DM-1701 DMR (Updated: 2020 April) I'm not familiar with that HT, or DMR codeplugs.
Well, I watched HRCC's video last night about the FCC and it appears that the notice that went out was in response to the rally on the Capitol on the 6th. He was showing pictures and a lot of them had Baofengs on their rigs.
The digital ones? Can't ready shut down repeaters because everyone's radio is a repeater or every ham shack right?
Not every radio is setup to be a repeater. Also, one is supposed to coordinate with the local frequency "administrators", so that frequencies don't overlap. Ham Radio Repeater Frequency Coordination That being said, I'm sure the FCC contacted the repeater operators, and required them to turn them off. Furthermore, the FCC/Gov't reserves the right to require ham operators to stop transmitting during certain times. Example, WWII the FCC demanded ham operators to cease operating. Copied from.. Supposed to test a week from this Saturday. Doing well on practice tests. Finally broke the 90% barrier Edit.. there's a few more fails before the first on this screenshot Guess only 2 previous..
Well all, took my Amateur Extra test today with the former co-worker I tested with last year. Once again we both came home successful. I aced the test. I think I ended up with some of the easiest questions possible. I'm now allowed to play anywhere in the frequencies.
