main1.jpg vintageSodaCans5.jpg like many, i had a beer can collection back in the 70's, those are long gone but i started over again about 16 years ago and recently sold off most of those, my second time around consisted of mainly cone top and flat top (can opener top) cans, now i've been slowly buying better condition earlier soda cans, i love some of the early labels used in the 40's, 50's and 60's, here's a few of mine and some i'd like to get my hands on..:D, i need to get more pics together............ index.jpg 100_6465_compact.JPG 6642497_orig.jpg 597028ccad987cb0050fe59a449646ed.jpg 43164385_48739b53b2.jpg Cone04e.jpg

Wow, some of those are pretty cool! I'm a food packaging engineer by trade, so it's pretty neat to see how things were done in day's past! I've never seen can's like those Dr. Peppers.

Ah, I remember those cans from the 60's! When you crushed one of those against your forehead, it really did leave marks! Those cans have some metal in 'em, no?

Back in the early and mid 70's beer can collecting was very big. At that time I in my early teens and had a huge collection. I even used to get the news letter from the WWBCCC? world wide beer can collectors club

When I got a little older, the cans got boxed up and put in the attic. In the early 2000's, after my parents passed away, my sister and I were cleaning out the house and I found my old collection. Several boxes were sold at the estate sale, but I managed to keep a large plastic tub full of my old favorites. Several old local cone tops, some different colored "olde frothingslosh"? cans, some British cans with lingerie models on them, local brewery cans...

The strange part is, I never liked beer and still don't really like it. The weird cans yes, the beer not so much.

I'll have to snap a picture or two of some of them

I collected beer cans back in the 1970's, sold all of them 6 or 7 years ago. Being a Studebaker collector I have a bunch of STP cans from the time Studebaker owned them.

This shows the variations in just one style of cans.

Cool stuff. I found some old beer bottles on my property, probably from the 60s or 70s and gave them to a buddy of mine who collects them. Two kinds he did not have. If I see any old cans I will see if I can get them cheap enough.

    I have a few.....

The 4 smaller Coors ones are early 70's pulltabs, had them since I was early teens.Like others my age or a few years younger back then I was into beer can collecting for a while too.Sold maybe a fourth of them, remainder still boxed up in parents attic.Guessing there's around 150 left, from what I seen in recent months/years at local flea markets/antique dealers/online unless you have some real nice older cone tops or steel topped ones most aren't worth a great deal -$1 to 5 each.

Seemed like a buck or two was what lots of them cost me back in junior high many years ago....I do know that certain categories of antiques & collectibles are worth much less, even a fraction of what they were 15-30 years ago.And other things like certain vintage chain saws have really skyrocketed in price in the last several....

But like most other collectors I don't think about making a profit from them. The passion of building a collection (whatever it may be) is part of the fun.Now if times get rough &you have to sell some stuff for needed cash, you can usually get your money back at least with most items.

Like anything else, its supply & demand plus people's tastes change regarding what is popular or ''trendy'' to have as collectibles.Things go in cycles that's for sure.Like antique woodworking tools, they weren't real popular when I got into them in the early 80's,most were much easier to find & you could get some real nice, even somewhat rare items for bargain prices. Those days are gone pretty much, though they seemed to peak price-wise around 2007-08 & declined a bit since.
