This was yesterday evening. I counted 11 turkey total. If you know what you're looking for, there's 9 or 10 in this picture.
Pileateds are neat birds. They of course have their own unique call, but when I see one I can't help but hear the "Woody Woodpecker" cackle in my head.
It's always such a thrill to see a pileated woodpecker. I have only seen them a couple of times even though I do have some that live in my area.
We have a Ruffed Grouse that has taken up residence on our property. We've designated it a she although in reality we have no clue but she is pretty fearless. She's been wandering all over our property daily for at least close to two months now.
Well I missed the Osprey for a photo, so here is a Freedom Chicken. Ya, blurry phone pic but you get the ideer.
What kind of camera setup do you use? Could you post a picture of it? I finally have bluebirds in my nesting box. I almost scared them off last week when I was checking the box and moved the nesting material. I'll knock on the box before opening it to see if I hear movement and I didn't. I went to pull the nest out to clean it and a bluebird flew out and literally made me scream and jump when it came right at me. Scared the chit out of me. I saw one going in yesterday so they didn't abandon it like I feared.
The picture above of the bluebird babies is just with my cell phone. Yes, a light knock, but the parents should already be gone. I also don’t want to open the door when the babies are close to exiting, could flush them out prematurely. With eggs or young babies no worries about that. How does one know the stage of the babies? For me it’s fairly early when they are back & forth to the house with food, feeding them. They are in & out a lot as they take things in for food, caterpillars, bugs & such.
