Any audiophile types...or (like me) just wannabees?

I love listening to music. Not an audiophile per say. Between my music collection and audio books, I spend a great deal of time listening to my iPhone. At one point at home, I had built up an ok system with newer components. Even a record player. Though at the time I didn't bother with records. I listened to CD's. With the advent of MP3's and such, I've migrated a great deal of my music to files on my computer, and use Amazon's music service. They allowed me to upload all of my music and then listen to it over 4LTE or download to my phone.

Recently I have started to have an itch for records. I grew up with 45's and regular albums before the conversion to digital. In fact I have some very coveted records. They have been used so not in mint condition, but this did come over from England. While I'd really like to upgrade my home theater system to a nice Denon, I don't have cash or the time at home to do so. Far too many projects. Just going out to get a spinner would be an accomplishment.

KLH is very famous around the Boston area because thats where so much development happened in the audio and electronics world KLH first letter stands for Henry Kloss, who also started Acoustic Research, Advent, Cambridge Soundworks and Tivoli.

Never could afford to be an audiophile. But I love vinyl & vintage equipment especially Advent.
This is my garage setup. Old stuff off CL. Son & I refoamed a bunch of old large Advents as well as the Cerwin Vegas.
    Listen to Spotify or CDs.
Each side of garage door I have a paired set of double Advents.
Then a set of yamahas that I run with some Electro Voice speakers.
Once I take the vehicles out the kids ( youth group, school classmates ) love to rock out . Garage turns into a cafe-Gym-atorium!

I just came back from listening to some Jethro Tull over at my neighbors man cave. He has quite a video and audio system, I could not even begin to tell you all the components he currently has, he's upgrading something all the time and I don't recognize most of the names! I was convinced I was hearing new re-masters of the songs or other live versions I was unaware of. I kept hearing sounds that I "knew were not in the previous releases". Instead it was just the SAC D Super Audio files and hardware I was listening too (according to him). 5.1 surround is where my audio knowledge stops so some of you folks already know about all this I'm sure. I was impressed! :dancer:

and for a little relaxing flute music:

I have a small SACD collection, some are multi-channel and others are strictly 2 channel stereo as were the originals.

Nice stuff in them pics, Deacon!
Haven't heard the name "Cerwin Vega" in YEARS! My bro and I used to drool of them! I have my parents' RS speakers that look like that set on your shelves with the "criss-cross" pattern, except taller... 10" woofers I believe? Maybe I can snap a pic of 'em in the daylight. Man, did we push them back in our teen years(with a nice early '80's Marantz head unit), before we each got our own equipment!
    Very cool, man!

Is that a receiver or just a tuner? Fisher was building quality back in the day.

I haven't read all this thread but enough to wonder if you could answer my question. We have a Sansui AU-555A solid state stereo amp with Sansui SP 1200 speakers. We haven't used it that much so now when I do use it to play CDs through, the sound is splotchy and static. Can this amp be taken apart and cleaned or would that make any difference? We bought the units in 1973 and really like the sounds it produces over the more modern amp we have. Any suggestions would be helpful. Really don't want to get rid of it.
