Another Tree I.D.

    Thank you all! The pieces I grabbed from here were the darker rounds of oak. Some of it was indeed punky but a lot of it was good stuff that split easily.

    My turn- I don’t know what this stuff is, but it is a pain in the neck to split. Stringy as all get out. It’s light wood, with a red streak in the core. The bark peeled right off like poplar, but it’s obviously not... anyone know what I’m wrestling with?

    Added bonus: in addition to being super stringy, just made another split and about 500 ants poured out. Awesome! :picard:

    After splitting some more rounds, and seeing the defined border of the red center and light exterior, I am pretty sure I have a red hickory.
