Another score from my tree service contact.....Black Cherry & Black Walnut this time!!

Revised my estimate - Approximately 85-90% of the Cherry will be burned,but only 30% of the Walnut.Some of the walnut isn't quite as big,but there's more of it & its much higher quality.Roughed out 2 small Cherry slabs yesterday from one of those with holes.


Getting closer - moved a few more big ones to storage spot,cleaned up more of the chips,bark & dirt from the driveway this morning.Done for the day already,got a lot done yesterday & I wanted to stop before I overdo it with my back......Light rain off & on already,heavy storms are forecast for this afternoon.So stopped before it was too bad.


Most all the smaller/lower grade stuff is cut,split & stacked now. To save on lifting I roll the bigger ones,use a heavy Johnson bar & peavey to move them into final position.Tongs help on smaller/medium pieces.

The hollow out center quartered piece in pics 004 & 005 I still managed to get a 2 1/2" square x 25" long stick from each corner.... Pic 34 is a small piece 2.5 x 5 x 20 from scrap also.

Finally cleaned up the mess yesterday shoveled the dirt that was in dump trailer into a pile &,roughed out a few Cherry blocks with the recently repaired SP125C this afternoon.Salvaged them from the partly hollow stump.I'll sift through that dirt & used it as backfill around the garden area.2 wheelbarrows worth of sticks/twigs/branch stubs & wormy scrap I gave to sister for her firepit.

I thought that 30" to 36" White Oak was nothing for that beast in January,22" Cherry is even easier....
