The problems that plaque us, here's some food for thought, I ran a ported 460 at the GTG last week and by for it was the most impressive saw I ran that day, ok going to run my saws now.
If both the 044 and 660 are wearing 24" or smaller bars, ok, maybe. But no 044 or 460 is going to do what 90cc will do in BIG wood. 660 comes into its own with 30"+ bars buried.
Yep. 90cc class saws have there place. When you need to put a 48" bar on to tackle a Big @$$ Red Oak, then they definitely have there place. I bought mine for milling, but have 2 young kids and not enough time in this stage of my life.
No argument there...but a strong 044 with a 28" bar is going to capably handle the vast majority of any trees destined for firewood. Just sayin'. Especially if you get log loads delivered like Dex.
No, but I still cut at a buddies, my Fathers, and when CL has wood, thatbis close, desirable, and Free. I bought my 460 because of some Huge Silver Maple I ran across. But I do try and stay away. Again. The main reason for the 395 was a Mill. Not firewood at all. My firewood saws run 20" and under (and 8 pin rims) almost 90% of the time. But.... When I need that other 10%, I want it now. I wont pass on it or wait.
If you followed AS, you would know that I almost had no choice. I traded it off (the 395) only for someone else to send it to Mastermind. Only to find out, that the Previous owner, destroyed the Cyl, piston, flywheel, etc.. So I traded back for it (only the right thing to do), and Randy installed all OEM parts at cost (courtesy of an AS Sponsor), then I decided that if I dis ever want to part with it? That Randy had better give it a massage Because all of AS knew what had happened to it. So yeah, I want to keep it, because I have way more in it than a Brand new one. But I want to wash my hands of this damm saw.
I had read about the blue goo sorry you had to deal with that. If I didn't already have one I didn't need I'd be all over that bad boy.
