I could probably shut down the whole cape cod half of my house for winter if I didn't need the 1 more bedroom for my son. I could probably stand to downsize, and a more efficient layout - both from a heating perspective and use. A giant great room for example is a waste of a good 400sqft of living space and its only feature is to 'look nice'. Still got to heat those sqft even if I can't use em for anything. But the big thing for me is getting a place with land and woods. 2 acres doesn't give me any firewood. Hopefully if I move fairly soon it'd still be paid off by retirement if I can trim a couple off a 30yr. And I hardly have paid much other than interest towards this place so far.
