Not walnut. cant see the rings like that (or at all for that matter?) in walnut, whose heartwood is slightly purple. Oak usually has visible light coloured lines around the outer wood going from the bark towards the centre. I dont know pin oak so I cant say. Looks like an oak. What leaves are on the ground, that are predominant among of leaf fall in the area? Bark looks like bitternut hickory. If so, use it or sell it for smoker. If no smoker, get a baseball sized chunk to smolder on your bbq ffor smoke flavour. If I see the inners of split wood I could tell if its bitternut.

I agree that it’s not walnut. Beyond that, I have no clue! Never seen or cut any around here

I'm going with white oak, bark looks like it, and you said it had a sweet smell to it.
