    Handshake to my fellow horders.

This question also applies to any insert. I purchased a imperial burn indicator to help me know I’m burning at the optimal temperature to avoid creosote.
The instructions say to place the thermometer 18” up the stove pipe. That is not possible to do with a insert.
Any thoughts on another location in the insert to obtain accurate flue temps or should I just return the indicator and use my judgment and experience with firing at the sweet spot. Any and all help will be appreciated.
