This CST610EVL arrived today via Fed Ex. I found it on Craigslist in North Carolina being sold by the original owner. He apparently bought two in the late '80's and subsequently sold the other one. I had a member on Another Site pick it up and ship it to me. Here are a couple of pictures, I am going to clean it up a bit before I mount the bar. Hard to see in the picture, but there are two cracks in the clutch cover above the bar studs. Still has the cover on the plug hole. Underside looks good for a saw that was worked for 25 years. Finally, a picture with its brothers and cousin.
No 8800 but I would like to find one. I thought when I sold the 540 I would be able to sell the JD but just cant bring myself to do it yet, knowing I will never find another one. I really do need to get rid of some though, just feel like I am getting attached to what I have (which I try not to do). That 66SV you have is a looker too, you definitely have added some fine saws to your collection in the last couple years.
I recently picked up an 8800 in a box, supposed to have a roached top end. I have a line on a like new one that has been gassed but never seen wood, if it pans out this one might be expendable.
Thanks for the offer Gary. I had seen a NOS 8800 listed in NY once, but the seller never responded to my email.
I sure hope someone has one at the gtg. I'd love to see one in action, preferably if it is in my hands.
