I love winter and this thread! Last winter snowshoeing with my wife on our land. This is a fairly new beaver pond Setting up tip=ups with my wife and our youngest son. It was -20f, but not windy, so not bad. Granddaughters fist cross country skiing. Time to enjoy some warming time in the cabin.
Yesterday had the feeling, as George Strait put it, "the chill of an early fall". Unfortunately, the heat and humidity are coming back this week so enjoying all the winter pics in the meantime. Can't wait for summer to be over. Yes, collecting dead and down firewood is more practical before winter...but hauling out firewood with the snowmobile is...just...fun.
Nope! But I could imagine laying down and wallering in it! Man I really don't know how yall put up with that much snow... Snow is a major annoyance and inconvenience around here when we get it....
Actually, ice is a much worse annoyance and inconvenience to me. Snow makes a lot of money for folks in Maine (snowmobiling, skiing, X country, etc) and most understand that here. The ice... it makes money too... but in the ERs from bad falls and car accidents...
Nope... Nope, nope, nope. All y'all can keep your snow dreams, I do not look forward to snow... Even though I am in Wisconsin, were we get plenty of it. It can stay away for as long as possible.
Yeah...I'll take ten feet of snow over an inch of ice any day. When we get ice late autumn/early winter, it's often still there in late May. And the older you get, the more ice hurts.
After a long day plowing the wife usually has these hanging around, we have them about three times during the winter, with a cup of coffee and get by the fire, you'll warmup quick.
You really need to have a comma after plowing...cuz I first read this sentence as I have quoted above! Roll look great BTW
It sure does and it sure isn't up. Back when we were dairy farming and our sloped driveway was all ice, the only thing keeping the milk truck from sliding down it was the hose to the bulk tank. Good thing there was lots of ashes and barn lime to get him backed up to unhook. Gravity
