Excellent! Ever considered getting an Ecofan to move some heat? It is a thermoelectric generator - runs on the heat differential between the bottom plate and the top cooling fins. No wires or batteries! It works extremely well for my open fireplace.

Wow, was 90 here today in the midwest. I'm not quite ready for fire weather but some fall temps would be welcome.
    Nice stove!! What kind?

I am not ready yet. The house is still staying warm enough and the wife has not complained about it being too cold yet.

We've had 2 or 3 five log fires, enough to take the chill off/make a nice lump of heat for the day.
Our unwritten policy is not to run the CNG burner.
But I should fire it up once to be sure it still works!

We have had 3 small fires so far.
Sometime soon I will briefly fire up the oil furnace to make sure it still works.

I have been watching the night time temps, and patiently waiting for my wife to tell me the house is cold. It was close the other night, but she is still traumatized from one of the first fires last fall when I almost cooked us out of the house.

My house is too hot inside (75) when it's like 65 outside. With the windows open and fans going. I don't get it. No central furnace or ac, no fires going. Smh. Of course I have no insulation in the walls (shoddy construction from 1947) but I do have my attic air sealed and insulated to R-60.

No fires here yet but I am having to shut the windows at night! Hauling a small amount of wood in the house today but don’t expect a fire for a week or so.

I just built a fire in the stove. I may light it in the morning, or I might not.

Had a couple fires so far. Dear Wife bringing a little wood up to the wood rack out the back door (holds a cord). Will load the outside (mudroom) closet and kitchen wood rack after a good frost or two.

It was rainy and 70. We both remarked that if it were 10 or 15 degrees cooler, the wood stove would be running.

    It has begun.

I decided to bring some norway maple into the house yesterday in preparation....Only to realize that I busted a hole in the wall last year on an errant split and had put it off and put it off....so I ended up having to patch a hole instead of stacking wood hahahahaha. Hole will get finished today and later in the day I should be able to stack. Was pretty chilly this morning 66 here but no fire yet.

The inside temps never hit above 66⁰. Sun is going down. A few windows are open to let the first fire smell out.

My method of bringing into the house. From a stack into the wheelbarrow and then a garbage can with wheels. I have a staging station with two IBC cages behind where I took this pic for emergency snow wood.

    2021-09-29 15.50.01.jpg

Large stack holds 1/6th of a cord - 4' x 4' x 16" filled with maple. Smaller stack has the spruce.

Last year that would last me 2 days of burning from 7:30am to 11pm with 3 kids full remote. This year the kids are in school so it should last a lot longer.

Fatwood in the crate I built out of cedar planks from the playset. I have to build another one to hold kindling now. :D

Mainly spruce and maple kindling in the blye recycle bin.
