This will get sold for 26-27 season so it'll get well over a year to dry. Its gets very little sun there.

IIRC correctly don't you have a nice spot to stack wood next to your barn that gets full sun.

Dang Brad that was oppressive heat to be out there working today. I went out at 6.30 to split some BL and I was in the house by 8.30 :) By noon it was hot.

Stacked in the shade, did some bundle assembly in the shade, I sweated in the shade then made my way to his yard. It was in full sun. Luckily it was getting partly cloudy and with the powerline easement going through his yard a breeze does come through. Still wasnt that pleasant when the sun came out.

Trust me id rather not work under these conditions, but he wants it gone ASAP and if you tell me when i get around to it, ill never get it done! :emb: I have to think of how much harder I'd have to work for wood to push me to work this.

Holy smokes Brad, great progress on that locust. Git er done!! :dex:

Couple random pieces of honey locust from that monster I cut up dried in 2 for me. I only stack 2 wide and both sides get great air flow and large amounts of sun exposure. All that definitely affects it. It wasn't a healthy tree when fell though. I won't get to the rest of it for a couple more years though.

I imagine barkless heartwood would dry quicker. It does for other woods IME so why not HL?

Unfortunately my three stacks of HL are mostly shaded so I wait....and wait. I have been using some 18 month dried hickory for my smoker bundles and it seems good to go.

Split the rest of the BL i cut the other day and loaded. IMG_7728.JPG IMG_7729.JPG Did a little raking and consolidated the HL rounds (need a rack to empty then I'll split it all and load). Some mulberry in the mix. IMG_7730.JPG Threw the 28" bar on the 462 and bucked one bigger BL log. IMG_7727.JPG Ill stack in the morning.

Stacked yesterdays load this morning. Started moving the heartwood stack even though its not fully undercover. Have to put it somewhere! IMG_7731.JPG IMG_7732.JPG IMG_7733.JPG Out of room here for bark on splits so off to main storage and started a temporary stack. A rack close to it will empty next week as I coaxed my friend to take his load of oak heartwood early as I need the space. Went to the cut and a silver maple log had been dropped for me. Bucked and split it plus a good amount of the HL too. After an hour or so in full sun I called it quits and moved it across the street and stacked. Figured out where ill stack the HL for a multi year nap as MikeInMa would say. IMG_7738.JPG IMG_7739.JPG
