Wow! You've done some impressive work on that tree! Those smaller rounds in the background are dryer than I thought. I started splitting them a few days ago. The ones on the ground are reading 26% and higher, but everything else is showing 21-22% on the mm
I'm going to ask the homeowner how much of that he wants to keep. He has a fire pit, but hardly uses it, so that's his only use for the wood. The stuff in the way back is junk, old maple.
yup - will be nice when Fall temps return to the region. Too hot/muggy to do much of anything outside
I wish! First priority is the garage. Really it's just a matter of letting go, and hauling it off to Goodwill. It's all stuff from my mother's various residences. I definitely have hoarding tendencies, and now I'm into hoarding firewood and not other stuff. Firewood is the perfect thing to hoard, because it gets consumed!
I put the vault to bed for the winter. All filled up... Snow fence from Buffalo Plaid, and some plywood, to level out the top for drainage... All tarped up, with rope thru the grommets. I'll cinch it tighter if need be. Open in three years!
Oak vault 2.0 (thanks MikeInMa)! Every scrap of green oak I had in the yard went in there, and I still need a little more to fill it out. I tarped it for now, once it's full I'll put rubber roofing on it for the winter. Oak vault 1.0 will get burned this winter. That stuff was barkless and split pretty small, so it's dry enough to burn.
