Any 7.62x39 shooters in here? I inherited a whole bunch of this Russian stuff from my cousin. Is it any good? A pretty good 50/50 mix of FMJ and SP. In the process of acquiring something to put it through. Have to sell a couple guns first.
my three gunsafes are full me has to make room for an AK47 or a Ruger Mini Thirty haven’t decided yet
I'm a x39 ar-15 owner. I haven't tried brown bear yet, but I hear is good stuff. Same with the Barnaul. Brown bear is made by Barnaul. Russian stuff. You can likely build an AR 15 like I did for a lot less than what an AK costs. If you use the right parts, namely the correct mags, they are very reliable, and the AR platform is much more accurate than the AK platform.
The mini 30 in x39 is a good gun, but the AR will cost less, and be more accurate. This.... Although there's a few inexpensive upgrades that are necessary if you'll be shooting that Russian berdan primered ammo you got.
I do not. But my son has a Colt and a Bushmaster in one of my safes both unfired. My only .223 is a Model Seven laminate that will never get sold as long as I am breathing. Just a fine little gun,,,
Build up a lower, buy an upper and you'll be set. Trust me, you'll like it. If you have any questions about what you need, let me know.
Got the ammo last night. I will.pist a pic of the .45 later. Also bought a small cardboard box of random ammo for $20. Just went through it while ago and sorted it. Sorry writing is barely legible, was writing left handed. I think I did good for $20. This was the .45 hp: 40 .45 HPs are worth more than $20, especially some of those, even though it's a Dukes mixture... Also got 2 little wooden boxes that are full of shotgun shells for $10 a piece. Haven't gone through those yet...
The bulk .45 I bought for $15 a box. Ended up being 49 boxes of .45, 6 of which were HP minus 8 rounds (the HP in the mixed hodge podge box previously posted filled in some empty slots in the HP boxes), and one box of 40 (which I can use). Also bought 17 boxes of 20 GA bird shot for $5 a box... not sure current going rate for 20 gauge dove and quail loads but I figured that's at least a decent price.
My dad went to a small town gun shop the other day to get a gunsmith to check out a couple things. He mentioned he bought a box of 20 ga 7/12s. I asked him how much, he said almost $13! I said Holy chit.... If anyone finds a good deal on 9mm, give a shout. We went to a big gunstore for their presidents day sale. It became and expensive trip.....
You did great on the boxes of shotshells and 45's as far as I'm concerned. The lowest price I was seeing was just recently is hovering between 8- 9 bucks for target shot 20 ga Winchester white boxes in 25 count. Now if you take that in light that what you bought them at was even lower than the rates were before they hiked up, it's a steal. . I have only bought ammo sparingly, that mostly has been 22lr. I take that back I found 2 boxes of 30-30 that I couldn't let go. I'm hopeful for a lever action Henry when I can arrange it. Everything else just has that price that seems high but you can find those bargains. The online or any estate sale is going to have the best deal. Have you figured out that you got a good deal yet?
I read this article tonight and found it interesting. An NRA Shooting Sports Journal | Remington, CCI, Speer, Federal Supporting Ukraine With One-Million Round Ammunition Donation
