Here's what is in stock at local place per their website. Anyone see anything they need? Most of these I haven't even heard of.
I hate paying current prices but my fear is it wont be available at all soon. My local dealer has a fair amount most days and prices lower than online. I go there once a week and buy a box or 2 of something.
Yeah some places have been really stingy with their ammo as far as prices go. I'm ok with not buying more just now as I'm not shooting as much. This summer however could be really different. Walmart has their good prices on shotgun ammo when you can find it. It's target ammo usually but if I see .410 there it's in the cart, its the only place that I can actually find it in decent prices too. A sign on a local place I go to had a sign that was explaining the ammo shortage, panic buy, whatever you want to call it along with 9mm polymer defense apex rounds for about 26 bucks for 20. I bought some of that in .45 months ago for less than 20 but I don't know if I'd find it useful as HP or FMJ being that costly. Anyways back to the sign it said at the top that this could go as far as 2022 until we reach some kind of return of "normalcy". Prices are either a joke or other limits are imposed. Another trip to a Sports store had enforcement on their ammo that you could only get 100 rounds of ammo at the most. It included .22 LR. Really rolled my on this one and left the ammo at the counter. Some issues like this are just better left alone and walked away from.
My LGS has good prices they are not gouging. The most common is long sold and what comes in goes quick. All I have seen come i. The last 6 months is Hornady no other brand. The only common round they have on shelf is 6.5 creedmoor and 300wm.
i do not consider either of those common. Common in my old mind is 3006 308 243 223 3030 270 22-250 and I suppose 7mm mag
Yeah, none of those are common. They have a lot of elephant gun rounds though. My buddy guy a bunch of ammo the other day. Primers even. I told him he was lucky as I've stopped at that store runs of times and only was ever able to buy 4 20 rd boxes of 7.62x39 at one time, and another time 22 lr. The 22 seems to be a little easier to get than others though. Otherwise all they have are the mega magnums left as a normal magnum rifle rd like 7mm rem mag have been OOS for a long time.
have all the fixings so can reload if I need to. Switched to the windy side ( air guns) awhile back for most short range ,pest and plinking. I can cast my own pills for everything if I have to including the air units.
You would probably be shocked at how many 6.5 creedmoor rounds are shot each year same with 300 win mag.
So is the 6.5 grendel..try finding ammo in that caliber. You can find about any caliber if you look hard enough, but grendel is non existent. except maybe on gunbroker where people are price gouging the heck out of it.
In the rifle comp world 6.5 creed is very popular, not to mention hunting. In comps it’s not uncommon to use 2 barrels per season. We’re talking 4,500-5,000 rounds a season. Add in the thousands of competitors plus weekend warriors that shoot 2-5 comps put that upto 1,000 rounds a year. I have [email protected]’s and 2@300’s. I didn’t realize what would happen to components this year, I probably shot 1,000-1,500 creedmoor. I hunt with 6.5 SAUM and 300 win mag and kids hunt with 6.5 creedmoor’s.
A few hunt with a Grendel up here, many hunt with creedmoor. I always have something with some horsepower with me, never know when a aggressive black or grizzly is around the next bush. I have never had to shoot a bear because of a charge, I have shot a bull moose at 5 yards and closing fast.
Dang components are getting expensive on gunbroker. I am hoping to score just to have it and it’s too expensive.
I have been buying ammo like crazy when i find it at a halfway decent price. Couple day ago bought 560 rounds of 224 Valkyrie and just ordered 480 rounds of brass cased 7.62x39. Have found 9mm, 40 cal and others and have bought, but no 6.5 grendel.
I lucked out when I found Grendel @ .50 cents/rnd last fall. Cheap Wolf ammo, but better than nothing. Sitting on a little more than 1500 rnds and don't want to shoot it.
Yep, last fall you could find it and i almost ordered a bunch of it and other things came up. wish i would have loaded up now. I probably only have 60 rounds of it in federal fusion.
