I agree on the editing......certain pics call for a touch of it, fix the lighting slightly or whatnot , but the only pics that call for a lot of editing are "ruined" pics that come out blurry or whatnot, that can maybe be saved by adding an effect. Black and white is also more forgiving in terms of adding effects without it being obvious. Color not so much. Too much editing, and for some pics, any at all.....I'll put it the way Neko Case put it about auto tune on music....like the taste in duet soda, it's there, you can tell, and not in a good way. For the most part, especially on sunny days, if the camera pics it up pretty much as your eye picks it up, no editing needed. If a day is overcast, I often like to darken it for added effect. The pic with the frame I adjusted the lighting down a bit since the pic came out a little over saturated....the rest are as is. Another nice day today.
Not sure if you've ever mentioned what camera you use TrinitySouth99 Some great shots, whatever the cam. I think you're right when it comes to editing color pics. I think it tends to deal with the fact that if you macro change a setting, it affects all of said color spectrum, which can detract from what you are trying to target. Say the image has too much light, so you try to edit out a bit of the yellow or orange, well, then you affect all the other aspects of the image that required that spectrum to give it the look that you wanted to isolate or highlight. Black and white is likely more forgiving, because only shading should be affected in a truly adverse way. Now, I've never taken classes on this, just general observation. If I'm way off, plz enlighten me guys.
thanks very much..... I'm no professional, but sounds like you're right on the money. No doubt full time professionals, or those hobbyists with tons of money to blow, have the means to avoid that with advanced cameras and editing programs. Me....I've used several cameras and still have several in various condition, but right now I'm using a kodak...just a basic cheaper camera, I definitely don't use anything professional grade. too afraid of beating it up.
I think you are spot on Chaz , I'm no expert , I don't have photo shop or light room , the program I use is the one that came with windows 10 when I upgraded my lap top . Great photos Bert
Nice pics Bert I love the tunnel effect from the tree canopy... very cool. Is that deer a blacktail?? The rack would have been way smaller on a whitetail of similar age.
I guess it's like the saying.. "I don't know what art is, but I know it when I see it." Of course, that's also been used by politicians when it comes to pornography, but politicians are opportunists by nature.
I don't edit many color photos , because I don't shoot them as much as I do B&W here's one from my " Office " that all I did was adjust the light , contrast and shadows , to bring the sky in more . edited and out of camera .
That's a Mule deer in my back yard. The canopy pic is out on the Northern California coast, also the houses. The motorcycle pic is about 20 minutes from me.
Nikon D200(very outdated) my favorite lenses are my Nikkor 80-200 2.8f or my Nikkor 50-1.8f. My favorite film camera is my Nikon F2as.
