Some old slide scans. This is Rusty, we had him in the early 80s. Big Irish Setter. Over 100lbs. Me taking a break halfway down Val d'Isere-tignes (one run a day.. if you end up in a different town then you bus back to where you are staying.)
Great photos. I just upgraded to my first real camera -- an entry level DSLR, should be quite a step up from my 10 year old point and shoot.
These pictures are so much better than a postcard. They are what we also might get if we were there. Wife and I don't travel very often. Too much hassle to get someone in to look out for the pets. We traveled plenty early on, but now neither one of us has any desire to pack our bags and go. Odd, now that we have the time and can afford to travel. I hope this thread keeps going for a while.
I only got the single lens kit (18-55) I'll add the 55-200 later. I wanted the camera to be able to get action shots of my 2 year old. With the point and shoot I was always too slow. After 20 minutes of playing with it I can see this is a huge improvement. I can hold the shutter down and take multiple shots a second. The nice thing that the d3200 adds over the 3100 is a $40-40 wifi module that lets you wirelessly upload photos and use a ipad or phone as a remote viewscreen and wireless control.
Cool , I just started looking at upgrading , Nikon seems to be a super choice for a beginner and the price is in my wheel house . I still have my Olympus OM1 film camera old school.
Anyone got a link to a good tutorial/explanation of how the various shutter and aperture settings effect the pic? (for a beginner)
Was looking to start a photo thread and found this with a search. I'm going to bump it and see if it gets started again. Just got back from the Bahamas so I will start there But I like any pic, not just from traveling. Anything cool or interesting or unique Color, black and white. Animals, flowers, antiques, interests, hobbies.
