I thought of something positive I still like about this country, or at least my little corner of it. WHOOPIE PIES!

I think that if they give me a choice when I die; be buried next to the wife or be buried with a case of whoopie pies, I'm choosing B. I can take them with me!

If you've never been to New England the whoopie pies alone would make the trip worth it. I split a pumpkin one for desert this evening with my son and daughter.

Oh we have Whoopie pies over here too...'bout any flavor you could want. Can't say I've ever seen any big enough to split between 3 people though...
Edit: I do want to visit the New England area sometime though...never been

Well I have been to Ohio and no offense but if you make it here you'll probably never want to go back.

Depends where you were I suppose...Ohio is a pretty diverse and varied state, as much so or maybe more than any other I've been to. We have a lil bit of everything here it seems.
I have traveled quite a bit...haven't found anywhere else I'd rather live yet...always ready to go back home after a week or two at most.
That's another thing that's good about the US...this a really a varied country as far as geography and scenery, local customs and traditions, etc etc etc

But do you have any mountains? Have you checked out Davegunters thread from a couple of days ago "Hiking with the Hounds" the pics are fantastic. It's the next best thing to actually being here!

Yeah, we don't have mountains with views like that (at least that I've found) but southern OH does start to get a lil mountainous...very scenic, especially in the fall

The pic I posted wasn't of my whoopie pies; it was one I found online. I got the ones we had yesterday at a farm stand in Hooksett.

So you were raised in Ohio? I think it's that way for a lot of people. I was raised in NH and Maine and although I've been other places I've liked, I could never imagine living anywhere else. Like you said about the local customs, whenever I go somewhere else, even if it's a place I like, and they do something different, even little things, that little voice in my head with the New England accent is screaming at them "what are you reathhhhded?"
