I'm getting a lot of alerts for threads I'm not following; specifically alerting me "XYZ started a thread in the ____forum titled_____". Is there a way to disable these? I've looked over the alert preferences and can't find the setting. I'm fine with the alerts I get for threads I created or followed...it's just these random ones.

I came to the forum today after about a week and had over 60 alerts.

    Thanks in advance!

Strange.... your only setup to watch threads when creating or replying or if someone tagged you. Might have been a glitch, try logging out and back in. If this continues let us know.

Skier76 , look here at the options under "watch thread", uncheck if by email.

Thanks guys! The threads that are coming up aren’t watched. Here’s a quick pic I took this morning. Haven’t been on in a week; had 60 alerts today.

I logged out and back in. I’ll see if that helps things along.

Came back just now from yesterday. 20 more alerts. Still a good number of alerts of threads that have been started that I'm not watching/subscribed to.

I reset your settings and set them back where you had them. See if this helps.

Looks like I'm still getting them; came by now with 51 alerts; most of them of new threads that people have started.

I turned off your setting and back on. Everything looks normal from this, it's so baffling

This is so strange, you should've gotten maybe 4 alerts perhaps, unless you physically press the watch thread button. I triple checked your settings, turned alerts off, back on in 2 different locations.

Are the alerts random or are they the same ones?

Your can try clicking on each thread you were alerted to and click unwatch thread. 60 is alot, so maybe do 10 and see if you still get 60 next time

It looks like they are new threads that people started. I never get a notification related to the thread after the "____ Started a new thread called_____" alert. This is an odd one!

Did a bit more digging in Tapatalk, "Timeline" is mirroring all the alerts I'm getting. Can you see on your end what feeds the Timeline on Tapatalk? Maybe if disable whatever that is on my end, it'll help things.

I may have this figured out! Seems that most of my alerts were coming from the Woodpile forum. I was on Tapatalk yesterday and noticed that forum was flagged/followed/bookmarked in my app. Wondering if that was causing the alerts. I unflagged/unfollowed that in the app and the alerts I had this morning were directly related to my posts; either likes or quotes. Fingers crossed! I'll keep this updated with my findings.

Ironically I just saw this thread and wondered if that might have been the culprit.

Sorry I didn't see this thread sooner.

I was going to say you must have your settings in one of your apps set to receive notifications in some sort or another....

People either love tapatalk or hate it....I'm the latter......

At any rate, I'm sorry for your frustration and I'm hoping to hear that it's resolved!

I think this worked! I had a lot of notifications this morning. However, they were all related to threads I had participated in. Lesson learned, don't follow forums on Tapatalk if you don't want a lot of notifications! Thanks everyone.
