I am in a cooking slump. My kitchen stove croaked 12/19/2024 and 12/23/2024 I took delivery of an LG 5285 that has Convection Bake, Convection Roast, Air Fry etc. Yesterday I went to make a batch of air fried wings....they were cut up, left uncovered in the fridge for 12 hours to dry out a bit, pulled out of the fridge 60 minutes before cooking to come up to room temp, coated with baking powder and salt and air-fried for 30 minutes at 425. I do have the absolutely official LG Air Fryer rack. The wings were very juicy but the skin was white-ish, rubbery and wouldn't hold on to the wing sauce. A- on taste, D- on texture.
I haven't tried wings yet so not sure but if I put something in at 425 for 30 minutes, I would guess it would be crispy, or at least hope so. Wings are on my list but just haven't done them yet. Be interesting now to see how they turn out.
We’ve had good luck with wings in our counter top air fryer. I’m wondering if the oven almost has too much volume. Our countertop unit has the fan and the element up top and rather close to the items you are cooking. I wonder if you’d have better luck if you put the wings on the top rack when cooking them? Random note if anyone is ever wondering what to cook….ask your favorite AI assistant. Chat GTP has created some pretty darn good dishes when I tell it what I have for leftovers and pantry basics.
I got a countertop unit for Christmas. I haven't used it for much besides some frozen fries that turned out perfect. I will say that this is the best thing possible for reheating items I've come across. Pizza and ribs came out perfect after 5 min.
DOH! I read the stove instruction manual and the air fryer rack is supposed to be placed directly in front of the convection fan. I had the wings all the way at the top of the oven, thinking that it would be hottest up there. Oh, darn, it's a bleeping cold day, there's football and beer ahead and now I have to make another batch of wings. Poor me.....
