I prefer standard time as I am in the same boat as savemoney .

I saw a map the other day that showed if we stayed all on DST, then there are areas that would not have sunrise until after 10am in the winter - which would be crazy.

I'm a morning person (obviously) so the sooner the Sun comes up, the better.

Yes, it should. Sometime you should compare your sunup/sundown times with Michigan. Say from the coast of Maine to Ironwood, MI. You might be amazed. I know when I go east, especially in the fall of the year, it is extremely noticeable.

Ironwood mi is in the central time zone. Houghton Mi would be a better comparison

Yes, I am well aware and almost posted that but just figured it would be easier to look up. Just like when I worked out of Escanaba. Go to Bark river and change time. Or to Iron Mountain but then go north and you are back in Eastern. Rather ridiculous.

Today's sunrise time is only about 15 minutes difference if compared to Ironwood. Compared to Houghton, it is 1 hour 15 minutes.

I'm thinking that this is what you were trying to point out.

I know, I know, you're getting old you're old!

I wake up between 1am and 2:15 am (no alarm), with the odd shortly past midnight mornings thrown in for good measure. Cats get fed at 3:30am. I don't really care what time the sun comes up (within reason - LOL). But it really isn't easy falling asleep during summer when the sun hasn't set.
