Tractor will be smoother riding if on rough terrain because of the longer wheelbase so terrain may come into play some they both are great and unfortunately they each do things better than the other ect. Throw another thought into if for you how about a compact articulated loader? I actually see small loaders come up for sale in the 10-12000$ range.
Make sure you run one with Case controls, Cat, and NH. Case makes a fine machine but I wouldnt give you a nickle for one... and I had a 420 a couple years ago that I sold around the 10k mark with 600 hours. I know times are a LOT different now. It sucks. But going from 10k to 15k gets you a lot nicer machine. Track loaders are great. But add a ton of $ to the equation, and you need to set an hourly allowance for yourself for track, pins, rollers and associated wear and tear.
Take it you don’t like the mechanical hand controls? Between the rental place I worked at and the couple paving contractors up here that had 1845’s you’d have a hard time convincing me there was a tougher skid steer in that size and time. In fact the one tar place bought a couple 40xt’s and a 50 maybe can’t remember. The 1845’s are still being used just not full time because of the regulations for air quality inside the operating station.
My Kubota M5040 would pick a ton pallet, barely. The M6060 is the next step up, in the 2300# vicinity. They need some rear ballast, for sure, and aren’t in Ohio dave price range.
I did the same thing. Bought an old 580CK forklift for 1000 bucks a decade ago and it's still going. I could've bought a worn out, small, oil leaking New Holland skid steer for 7 grand at the same time.
Basically a 580 case tractor with a backwards operating station & mast fork set up. Pretty tough machines
Exactly. Mine is the first series..........so 67-69 mfg time frame. It's far from pretty, but man it's saved my back with firewood.
Cant stand them. Nothing wrong with them, I'm just used to NH and I like cat also. They are definitely tried and true though.
Yeah their pretty tough...the price on new 580 hoes must not be bad either, because they own the municipal market, at least around here!
It wasn't running when I bought it, but running I could've bought it for 5k. Thankfully I waited and got it cheaper. Nowadays, that wouldn't come close to getting it.
Looks like it'll fit my budget too. How many cubic inches of firewood can it haul? Hope Mrs Ohio dave approved!
I bought these today. still got enough of my budget left over to get a rugged made 322 splitter with the big 301cc engine. Dealer and I were discussing the trailer and then he said he had the 773 coming in. He’d sold it to the guy new 20 years ago and he traded it in on a new machine. I went with bobcat as that’s predominantly what I know and have run all my life. It also has a kubota V2203 engine which I have run in my reefer unit for 5 years Unbeknownst to me, my youngest daughter works for Doosan is able to get me her discount on attachments… She’s likely going to be the one running this thing for me since she’s getting factory training on all this stuff.
