Not aware of that here, on our property there's more reds than greys, but in the city it's the complete opposite

I dont think 2 strands of poly is going to do anything for squirrels, even nuclear hot. Poultry netting, maybe. Unless there is some kind of pist or limb/tree that they can drop in from, and jump back to for egress. I'd go pellet rifle/bb gun, even if you had to build a hide snipe them, so your pesky neighbors wouldnt rat on you. Or tell your neighbors to go.....well you know...

Squirrelinator multi catch trap works wonders with sunflower seeds as bait and you can get it with a basin for dispatch . You can get a few at a time.

What was that old ad for the roach motel, they check in but can’t check out? This one is for squirrels and even comes with a pool.

In North A squirrels are the devil. the red squirrels run the grey and fox squirrels away. The reds are the smallest ones, and are the most destructive. Reds will eat into house boards and chew on wiring and cause a lot of damage.

Red squirrels are the devil. I'll take them out in any way possible.

    Yours: Sciurus vulgaris

    Ours: Tamiasciurus hudsonicus

These two kinds of squirrels are even different genera.

Animal Traps & Repellents - Havahart®. Get this one. I have 3. I use a nice clump of peanut butter and man does it work. I've caught 35 chipmunks in the last 6 months and I'll leave it to your imagination as to the other furries. I gave them all swimming lessons but I must be a terrible teacher. 10 seconds for chipmunks, a little longer for bigger things. I place the entire trap in a garbage can that has water just above the top of the trap. Works very well. Then off to cremation in the fire pit or burial. Whatever is more convenient.

I grew up eating a lot of squirrel. I'd put 2-4 red squirrel in the fridge--dressed of course--every week in the Fall. Mom would take them, put them into a roasting pan, surround them with carrots and potatoes, pour water to cover them, and put fresh biscuits on top. Yum! Squirrel pot pie for supper.

It is illegal to shoot around here unless you have written permission from all neighbors within 500ft (which is a lot) and the animal lovers probably won't disapprove quietly. It is also illegal to trap and release elsewhere. NY doesn't want your problem to become someone else's problem, so you have to terminate it and then bury or cremate immediately. Shooting is way messier too. H20 works amazingly well.

Red squirrels don't make good pie; too many tiny tiny bones.
They're smart little buggers. Havaharts tried with peanut butter, apples, black sun flower seed don't work for us.
Success with large plastic rat traps filled with sunflowers seeds has killed 8 so far this season.
Happy to send them for your pie.:rootintootin:

Greys are big and fat and dumb.
Our reds are another breed ( and species)--canny, fast, tough pie.

My wife has a bunch of bird feeders which were being destroyed by squirrels. Last week we got a pellet gun and I had 25 confirmed kills in 5 days and most likely a few more deaths but couldn't find the body. All of this by just poking the barrel out the kitchen window.

They're considered invasive in England, right? On a side note, I thoroughly enjoy a lot of the air rifle kill videos out of the U.K. for squirrels, rats and magpies.
