adventures in slab

I don't know what I am sick of more, slab, or mud.

 

Looks like it all blends together.

 

Mud for me here, it's making outdoor work difficult to near impossible. Been a while since I've dealt with any slabwood though. Keep at it, you're gaining!

 

I gave up today once the mud started to soften. Hoping for cooler weather!

Still a bit squishy! But slab must be gathered. Stack it high!

 

House is ready for the forecasted negative temperatures this week. Now to go prepare the garage with.... wait for it.... slab.

Indeed. Got my first deer with that 20 some years ago.

 

My dad has one. My 2 brothers and I all carried it as our first rifle when we were old enough to hunt. It has harvested more deer than I ever will in my lifetime. They are great guns.

No slab today. Some big trees came down on a friends house. Tree co removed and shredded the small stuff. The saw in the log is MS460, with 32 inch bar. my arms are shot for the day.

 

Nice day for the Beech after-all! That is my favorite all around wood..clean thin bark, easy to split straight grain, grows huge, burns hot, and generally rather pretty to look at. You got a great specimen there and took some cool photos..Cheers to you!
