So I've got what I believe is a Whitfield Advantage II-T, and it has an issue with the room-blower control. When it's on, it's on full-blast. I've been pulling the discreet active components off the board one-by-one and testing them (triacs, transistors, etc..), and everything looks okay.

What's throwing me off, however, is that the two triacs have their gates tied together. I had assumed that one Triac was for the auger, and the other for the room-blower, and that the combustion blower just ran at a constant speed.

Now it's looking like perhaps the auger gets one triac, the combustion blower gets the other, and they're tied together so that they both ramp at the same rate? Maybe?

If that's true, how does the room-blower speed adjustment work?

    Does anyone have any insight?

The auger does not tie to a triac. It simply runs on a predetermined time.
7 seconds off on #1 The actual feed is 1.8 to 2.5 seconds on time
    6 seconds off on #2
    5 seconds off on #3
    4 seconds off on #4
    3 seconds off on #5

The triacs control the room air fan and the draft fan.

The draft fan is controlled in conjunction with the burn rates.

The low feed (#1) has about 70 volts going to the draft fan and #5 has about 112 volts.

    I have this same stove....

I built my own controller and it solved all of the ills.

I can adjust my room air fan to where I want it....I leave it at nearly full speed as the room is huge....

The draft fan is set at 85 volts and I use either the 5 seconds off time or the 4 seconds off time spots .

I run ground hazelnut shells and the settings I use work sweet.

The factory boards were sketchy at best and had a habit of failing....As yours has.....

When the room fan Triac fails....it burns up the fan motor.....

My controller is outlined in this location New control box for the Whitfield

My controller has been running flawless for several years now.
Sort of a huge box.....BUT IT WORKS REAL WELL....EASY TO FIX...IF IT EVER NEEDS FIXING.

The timers and relays are WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY over sized (Amp rating) to hopefully prevent issues
