    so if I put a 1/2 inch of roxol insulation on top of my baffle plate thingy would it make my jotul F3cb run better????

    This blanket helps keep under the baffle hotter (secondary combustion), but leaves plenty of room above it for the stove top to exchange that heat via my convection deck..

    I got it off of eBay Dave. I can try and find a link in a bit. I have a few other PM's to get to real quick.

    Moving the air control lever does not change the amount of air passing through the stove, it just changes where the air enters the firebox. Noncats move lots of air.

    I just remembered I had another piece. I bought 1" thick and split it after I found it slowed the exhaust to much. A 1/2" doesn't bother the 30 at all.

    If you'd like it? It's yours bud. Just PM your addy (again) :) and I will get it out this week sometime.

    Already precut :D . It is not a perfect fit as far as width. But you want to have the board gap in the middle and center the blanket. Missing an inch on the left and right side of the bkanket just helps installing it. Because it is kinda a PITA. You have to remove the 2 front burn tubes. Then slide the blanket up (carefully) on the boards.

    If the primary air is closed 80%, there is still reduced airflow. The secondaries and putitary (doghouse) are pulling harder than they would, but they can't make up for the Primary.

    With my primary open 100%, my stove would melt in 30 minutes. The air increases through those 2 passages as the primary is closed, but it still does not equal what the stove draws at 100% primary.

    I know what it's purpose is but my Drolet works just fine with out it, I have no desire to mod my stove.

    The only "mods" I've done are completely reversible. Magnets and foil tape.
    This would be another of those.
    Just not convinced it's going to help much, but w/o trying, it's a complete unknown.
    Manufacturers don't always build the absolute best, simply because they have a price point in mind, and any added features would drive up cost and price.
    I look at "mods" as stuff the factory might like to do, but can't/won't.
    I'm still fairly convinced a cat stove that can provide at least 8 hrs. of 400 deg. would work very well here.
    It's still nice to hear how pleased you are with the Drolet, oldspark.

    The whole "new stove thing" has been some what of a disappointment to me to say the least but the Drolet has some what saved the day by both it's operation and price.:)

    Yep. Same here, except for the cleaner burns, not a whole lot changed from the old stove once I got it dialed in (and fixed).

    What oldspark is referring too is our Drolet stoves have no insulation at all and a stainless steel baffle and the fire brick on the sides only comes around half up the sides leaving alot of exposure to the sides of the stove to get heat to radiate out the sides and out the top of the stove. It truely is a radiating beast of a stove.

    Our stove is an example of hitting a happy medium of getting good radiating heat out of the stove and still meeting emissions.

    Because of the heat radiating out the stove there is less heat held in the firebox thus the stove doesn't perform as well on the EPA testing. but does meet emissions but wont meet the new emissions standard put out a couple weeks ago.

    The grams of emissions of the Drolet Myriad and Austral is 5.6 grams emissions range. My previous Vogelzang Performer wood stove was rated at 3.89 grams emissions as it came stock with a ceramic baffle board which has insulative value and then on top of the board was a ceramic blanket.

    But us guys with the Drolet stoves like the extra heat output of the stove.
