Buying a 24v transformer is the route I would go. Unless the manual specifically calls for power to be pulled from any other electrical system , circulator, furnace etc, I don't like to do that and just use a separate power supply. I had to do that with the doorbell camera despite having an old doorbell transformer.

I have had my wyze thermostat in use for over a year now. I like it a lot, but my fan only setting went away this summer with an update and I haven't been able to get it back. I've been in contact with wyze CS. They were extremely helpful when I installed the thermostat. I had a non standard furnace wiring and wyze CS was excellent.

I’ve got the Wyze unit back on the wall and chugging along. It’ll turn the pellet stove on, but won’t shut it down. It dials back the heat and the fan like it’s shutting down, but doesn’t go into the shut down cycle. It’s as if I have the stove set to hi/low and not on/off.

Got it sorted out with a new unit; it’s a Honeywell RTH6580WF (How’s that for a name?) It’s a pretty basic looking unit, kinda looks like a regular t-stat, but it has wifi. The app works well and most importantly, the unit will run the stove just fine.

A screen from the app, a little Windows 95ish:

Here’s how it’s wired. The black and white wires with the exposed copper are from the stove, the other two white wires are from teh 24v transformer:

Mounted up and running the stove:

Not a bad solution! This unit was pretty reasonable at $60 and change. Happy to have the stove operating on a working unit again.

The name is missing a T. Second from the last letter in the model of the Tstat.

    :D

Glad you got it set up. Gotta love easy fixes, and having the pellet stove on WiFi has to be slick. Fire it up an hour before you arrive and that's all worth $60

Thanks guys! It’s great to be able to turn it on from a distance. It’s also awesome to have it set on a schedule.
