Definitely work on diesels but I’m unsure about just turning on ignition to fire up a glow plug. I doubt that. I’ll ask.
The add-on blades are mostly to emulate a key fob. Is yours key or push button? If you buy a Compustar, make sure the place you buy it from will flash it and provide you install instructions. The program on the PC needs a device connected before it gives the option to print out those comprehensive wiring guides. We were crazy busy all day so I couldn't get as much info as I wanted to. I’ll ask tomorrow about the blade. As long as it’s a key w/o a chip, you don’t need a blade.
Bet there is...you can go to a hardware or locksmith shop that has the ability to cut chip keys, most of them have a device to check battery strength and/or copy the chip code. Edit, I see CBVT beat me to it!
Most US model Kia and Hyundai don’t have chip keys, Canadian models do. 20 year veteran of doing remote starts says that isn’t a chip key. They don’t necessarily have to have a battery. New cars (w/fobs) typically have a spot in the interior where you can place the “dead” fob and the vehicle will still start. A close proximity reader if you will. Skip the blade. You don’t need it. Some remote starts require is to place a key(and or fob) in a box placed under the dash.
I add no value to this thread except to say and I hired someone to put mine in and I absolutely love it! Especially in the Winter, the cold and the frost on the windows. The idatalink has to be programmed to your vehicle but I wanted to show you the benefits. All the wires in red and dotted do not need to be connected using that box. (this isn’t your vehicle) w/o it, you have to hard wire each function you wanted to use. They make buy-in a bit more costly.
