Welcome to the forum Jeff. You got off to a good start with a great first post. Now you have to get busy to buck up that oak and get it split and stacked. It won't dry until then and you know that even then it dries super slow.
Going to check with the moisture meter toward the end of the season and hopefully be able to burn some.Time will tell.
Good luck Jeff. btw, if you get on the 3 year plan you can toss that MM as you won't need it! Big benefits for the 3 year plan. Perhaps one of these days I'll start another thread about the benefits as we have lots of new members.
If you can, keep the parts of the oak logs that have lost bark separate from the bottoms of the tree as the wood higher up in the tree will be drier. Depending on how long the tree has been standing dead exposed to the elements you might actually have some fairly seasoned oak. If you've played the dead standing oak game before - never mind ! But yeah, get it cut and split ASAP to speed up the seasoning process. Hope you get more.
