Can and willing are two different things. Haha. I only started doing it with the high end wood because I usually don't get much of it so I don't want to take up space for my other "piles."
Now this one made me laugh out loud...for real. I don't discriminate though, I will stack Grants, Jacksons, Hamiltons, Lincolns and Washingtons!
Hickory. I also toss short pieces in them…toss, not stacked! Oh and I have a few with pine in them. I have around 120 totes at the moment.
120 total or filled? The guy I cut for in my "Disney" thread had 300-400. Impressive sight to see a wood yard with that many. Great way to keep it organized for sure.
Down to just a few logs left in that big pile. I’m happy to report, it went quicker than I had hoped. Looking back in this thread it appears I started cutting on this pile April 21 and there were roughly 150-160 logs in it.
Aside from one black birch and one pine log slipped in, this is all oak. The red maple I believe you are referring to was the tree service wood dropped off late last week. Cutting time depends on many factors but I always try to cut at least 10 logs if possible. If saws are ready to go when I get there, cutting 10 logs may only take an hour or a little over. Sometimes I’m there for 4-6 hours. 2-3 is my happy place though. I get bored when tasked with doing my the same thing for a long period of time.
Had to swing by the wood yard this afternoon and saw the log fairies have made a few deliveries. Some really nice nice ash, oak, and beech but some 30”+ diameter oak as well. At least most of the big stuff is straight and mostly knot free.
