That is all of the locust I have on hand at the moment. And that is one impressive pile you have pictured. Hope you can land it!
I don't think it was all BL, but a good number on that end were. I've called and asked in the past and I cant cut in their yard and as you know I cant take log length delivery or any delivery for that matter. Nice to dream though. Maybe jo191145 would be interested? He has room.
What is your normal MO for green bark on BL? Do you let it sit until the bark comes off? If I score it green it gets CSS ASAP and sold separately from the barkless. Kind of a PITA but it works for me.
Always interested in BL but those are some long logs. No cutting means no transporting. I’ll be interested in any reply you get tho.
I see you have a 10 footer too. Brad and I live in Ct. You hit the interstate with that and you’re gonna get swatted and prison time I’ve done it on backroads close to home. Whole lotta trailer sway, not a fan of trailer sway.
No sir, that's a 12' trailer. We were having to cut 15'-18' for the chip mill. Had the right hitch on it and drove 40mph, over that had sway. Only 6 miles to mill. But alas, that deal ended when a tree service dumped some short logs in a load. Cut all us little guys off...
I only cut 15 logs today. Didn’t take any pictures because the pile of logs didn’t look any different.
He's a land clearing company and maybe able to deliver triaxle loads. Its in South Meriden. Larry's Land Clearing LLC
too funny, I’m aware of Larry’s Land Clearing. The very first time I even considered sourcing wood from anywhere besides our property. He had cleared 3 house lots about 2.5 miles from me. Must’ve been 2011 or so. The stacks of logs looked so easy to work with compared to a tractor and wagon in the woods So did he ever respond to your inquiry?
I know you have a separate post with the exercise you’re doing but I still sometimes wonder how folks like you & Buzzsaw Brads backs are holding up. I envy you guys being able to work continuously on the log pile and get as much done as you do in one session. Keep up the great work both of you!
I spoke with his wife on the phone. She said for insurance reasons I couldn't cut there plus leaving a mess. I could understand the insurance, but the mess?
Thanks for the kind words sir! A lifetime of heavy lifting has conditioned my back IMO. I have disc issues found in an MRI a few years ago. Trust me it gets sore and hurts as I'm wooding. My wooding time is limited to a half day of so. Rare that i do longer days.
Like Brad, I have back issues. Mine is a herniated disk in the lower portion. It’s almost always in check through stretching and some visits here and there to the chiropractor who basically gives a deep tissue massage when the muscles start to lock up. I try to stay away from a lot of heavy lifting as much as possible which also helps. Once in a great while (every year and a half to 2 years) the muscles just completely lock up which puts me on the shelf for a week or two. I have mostly learned the signs and choose not to ignore them as I did when younger.
Thanks for the replies fellas. Either of you have hip ache issues along with your lower back pain? Thanks!
Here’s the pile after I cut about 35 logs from it the last couple of days. I hope to get at least 15-20 more cut today but we’ll see how that goes.
20 more logs got cut today. Would have cut more but we had 15-25 mph steady winds with gusts close to 40. Got tired of sawdust in my eyes. Does t look a whole lot different.
