One never knows but I'd like to think I can scale things down and turn to smaller amounts that yield more profit.
96 and humid yesterday, low 70’s with very dry air today. What a roller coaster. Yesterday I took the time to change oil in both splitters, move some logs around with the tractor, and clean up. This morning I spent about 4.5 hours working on getting the older mixed hardwood logs cut. I figure there’s about 5 cords worth here. Probably have about 25 more cords of them to cut
Is there any specific inventory rotation you use for wooding or whatever is closest to where youre piling?
I always try to do oak first which has landed me where I am now with mixed logs that are 12-18 months old. There’s some older oak that got buried in the back as well due to how fast the logs came in
It’s very unusual. I have only had 1 delivery in the last 2 months but it comes and goes. I’ve had days with 5-6 trucks dropping off. I’m enjoying the break in the action because it’s allowing me to get to these older logs
It's nice to see you able to get the older logs processed. Maybe you will start getting more drop offs soon.
Tuesday was the last day of school. Today was the first day “down the shore” as we call it in south Jersey. First two pics were taken before the umbrella went up.
Only cut for a few hours today but I’m making progress on the existing logs. I’d like to think these will all be cut up by the end of the week.
Put in a 6 hour day yesterday and an 8 hour day today. Still have about 15 cords to cut up and much of it is big enough to warrant the 36” bar going on the saw tomorrow morning. I had a few logs that were well past their prime so I cut them right by the tw6, backed the truck up and made a load of boiler wood. Spoke with my tree guy today. He’s eager to start running logs to me but I asked him to wait till Saturday.
