Both Lisbon and Lancaster are both nice. You may want to look at Littleton too. It is a quaint beautiful town, awesome shops restaurants, and industry. Meadow street is the main street test runs along the river. In fact, my realtor office is in Littleton. We are 20 min ME of there just outside of Whitefield, which is a very small town. If it helps, our search consisted upon the area of Northumberland down around the western whites to just above Plymouth. We made offers in Thornton (lost the bid) in Littleton, and Whitefield. We are very satisfied with our choice. 30 minutes to Mt Washington area east and 25 min to the Franconia ridge part of the presidential to our SE. (We love hiking the whites! )

I see Well seasoned answered most of the questions and "as" he should! He just moved and MUCH" more experienced with it than I am. I just started researching about a year now, have a fairly good idea of where we want to be. I will have a budget due to retirement pay but I plan on doing something for work, "or maybe not"! … I've got a good source (realtor) in Concord but she is also state wide and was raised in NH.
If you want her contact info, let me know. I'm sure WS has a good source as well. I'll give ya what I got if you want and also go to the NH Chamber of commerce. They sent be a "BOAT LOAD" if stuff to get started.:cool::)
