Wow! Those yellow splits really stand out. Looks like one of the black and white pictures you see with one red rose

It was cool to split em and see that, especially never having processed it either. Neat to buck and watch the highlighter colored chips fly out.

It's interesting how it goes from bright yellow to chocolate brown and then to the dark red color as it seasons.

In my experience it seasons in about 2 years but there are so many variables. My stacks are getting full wind right beside an open field. I think it's comparable to hickory in that aspect.

That's what I would do with it Brad, stack it with the black locust. Gooder for you to find the yellow wood.

You must have mistaken your hoard for another species...Mulberry is heavy af always, and burns like rocket fuel. I love that stuff. Be careful not to burn it during the shoulder season though, unless you want to turn the AC on.

It will fit right in with the BL Brad. It will be easy to tell the MB after it seasons because of the rusty brown color. Good score sir.

Ill probably keep it by itself. Some have commented on its sparking in the stove so im interested in that. Ive seen pics on here of the weathered ends turning dark color. Cool stuff!

I’ll second that.... I love it in the smoker... but other than that I’d place it right next to my walnut... good in shoulder season... I know a lot of people love it.... but I just never fell in love with it...

Thats a good comparison, about the weight of walnut and burns about the same more or less.

Check the chart OS. Most of the other charts online are about the same. No way would I compare MB to Walnut, not even close.

I know Grizzly Adam always talked highly of it.... but I’ve just never been over impressed with its “reputation” as a high BTU wood. Now I love it in the smoking arena... :grizz: That to me is were it earns its keep.
