Fella I worked with years ago would say, " As mother goes, so goes the house."
    Extremely powerful message.

We burned a bag of pellets yesterday and overnight but if we need more heat we'll get more chit wood from a stack in the woods.

Been a bit chilly still in western NY, esp just south of Lake Ontario. Had daily fires up to May 15th. Then nothing till last night (25th). Looking at weather outlook I might have to have a few more the coming week.

Here is an example of the influence a large lake can have on the local temps... Spring time water temps are still chilly. I live 2 miles south of Lake Ontario. I work ~25 miles south of home. When I left work Wednesday it was 81 degrees at work. Drove straight home.... it was 59 degrees at home.

    Last fire was Monday.
Came home mid-afternoon and the stove room was nice and cozy warm and a pine fire was burning perfectly in the stove. I was impressed.
I also went and closed the kitchen and bathroom windows but didn't say anything.

We get the same thing here (used to in the UP too). I well remember a few years ago when I took some college courses and had to drive a bit north, which is closer to Saginaw Bay. One day the temperature here was in the upper 70's. Before I got to school, I had the windows up and the heater on. It was cold at the college and they told me it had been that way all day. When we lived at Gaylord we'd get the same effect if we went east or west. In the UP, it was either north or south. We lived fairly close to Lake MI so as we went inland it got warmer. Go toward Lake Superior and it got much colder. But then, come fall, because of the water flow in Lake MI, we had an extended fall season which was really nice. But really cool up to July 4 or sometimes until August...

Planted the last of our garden today. Actually, I should say that Judy planted the last of it. All I did was put the tiller on the tractor and till the last little bit as weeds were taking over there. While I was at it, I also worked up some food plots.

No more fires here, had the furnace on a couple mornings this past week. Nice day today with NO RAIN. Garden went in Tuesday and the winter cover off the pool on Wed. One more sweep of the pool and I ordered a new solar cover yesterday. Supposed to be in the 70's next week so hopefully I can still get my splitting finished.
