If you really want to get an accurate test of your MM get a 1 Mohm resistor and put it across the points. Resistors were about a dime at Radio Shack, now it'll probably cost an extra $5 with shipping from somewhere else. With a 1Mohm resistor your meter will read 27% if your pins are 3mm or 1 3/8" apart. Adjust accordingly if your pins are different.
